The Garmin Forerunner 10 is a really fantastic, inexpensive entry level gps sports watch that is focused on measuring the basics such as time and distance, which are what individuals who run, walk or even jog need most. Its compact design makes it more desirable in comparison to other watches from the same company that target sports people. Its interface and features are quite simple which is of benefit to the user as they can track their progress in training in an easier manner.

When looking at the Garmin Forerunner 10 there are many features that grab your attention, but what stands out the most for me is its simplicity. It is easy to control and handle when in the middle of an activity without having to interrupt the flow of things.

Also, the data it provides is not overwhelming for any first time users who might want to learn how to use it on the go. Most of its users do not even have to read through the instruction manual that comes with it.

Pros:
  • Great Entry Level GPS Sports Watch, Does all of the basic functions very well
  • Inexpensive and Very Easy to Use
Cons:
  • Watch memory is limited but tracking data can be uploaded

As mentioned earlier, the features of the Garmin Forerunner 10 are mostly focused on the basics, with some of them turning out to be more useful than others. First, its display which is the point of interaction with the user is simple and quite easy to understand. One of the screens has only two metrics that are displayed in big, bold numbers. These two numbers represent the distance as well as the running time of the person using it. The other screen displays the pace as well as calories and these two screens can be interchanged depending on the preference of the user.

Second, the Garmin Forerunner 10 also keeps its users motivated as it records any milestones that may have been achieved during each run. The information it records shows the user if the run they have just concluded is their fastest or the longest they have done so far. This kind of information is important as it helps the user to review and assess their progress later, and see their level of improvement.

Third, the battery life of this sports watch is also very good for the functions that it performs, as it can last for up to five hours when it is being used continuously in training mode. When set to the optional power-save mode it can last for up to five weeks.

Even though most new users of Garmin watches enjoy using their various features; there are some people that are a bit disappointed with the limited memory space that does not allow their results to be recorded for a longer time. However, to cater for this shortfall Garmin has made it possible for runners to upload their information online where they can access it later at any time.

The Garmin Forerunner 10 is the ideal sports watch for new runners, offering all the features you would expect without being overly complicated, and it comes at a good price making it the perfect choice.
