Lauded as one of the most powerful sports watches that has been made available in the market, the Garmin Forerunner 310xt has features that are not found in other watches in its range. It is an ideal watch for serious athletes that participate in sports activities such as cycling, running and even those involved in triathlons. The sports watch is able to gather all the relevant data that is essential for coaches as well as the athletes, as it stores and analyzes the data which can be helpful in the planning of training sessions.

The multisport mode of the Garmin Forerunner 310xt is by far its most unique feature in my opinion. This feature is targeted towards athletes that engage in triathlons on a regular basis as the sports watch is able to semi-automatically shift between different sports as they progress.

All that is needed is for the set up to be done in advance by indicating the different legs of a race, and then the pressing of the lap button changes the display as well as moves the race to the subsequent stage during the event.

Pros:
  • Great for Triathaletes and Multi-Sport Enthusiasts
  • Waterproof with Excellent Tracking Capabilities, Good Battery Life
Cons:
  • Some users consider the size 'bulky"

The Garmin Forerunner 310xt has many features that appeal to most sports enthusiasts. One of the outstanding features is its ability to be used underwater to a depth of fifty meters without getting damaged. It can easily transition from being used in the water to the next activity in the race without any hesitation. This feature goes far beyond the waterproof capabilities that sports watches manufactured by Garmin have been offering over the years.

Furthermore, this model has a USB stick that can connect wirelessly to a computer as long as it is within the appropriate radius. To be able to easily access this feature the user needs to register for an account on the Garmin website and install the software that has been provided by the company. When the set up is done, the workout data is uploaded automatically, giving the athlete an opportunity to view charts and even graphs depicting the progress of their training.

This sports watch’s battery life, though not considered to be much by triathlon athletes, is quite impressive as it can last up to twenty hours. The battery is able to last that long only when strictly used for workouts that involve a variety of sports activities. In addition, its charging system is quite easy to handle as its charger resembles a clothes pin that is used to grasp contact points on the watch to commence charging.

The size of the Garmin Forerunner 310xt is one of its drawbacks as some of its users find it bulky compared to other Garmin products. However, even with its size it is still able to perform well in the multi-sport mode which is its most popular feature among users.

Overall, the Garmin Forerunner 310xt is a sports watch best suited for serious athletes who really need its advanced features, a lot of which would probably not be required by many people who only run or only cycle.
