The Garmin Forerunner 610 can be described as the running watch of the future, based on the various features that have been upgraded from previous models that were produced by the company. It is specially designed for individuals that are interested in getting fit in a healthy manner while monitoring their progress and includes a heart rate monitor.  It has GPS capabilities and can also be used to log in a lot of data for people who would like to keep track of their workouts as part of their fitness program.

The most outstanding aspect of the Garmin Forerunner 610 in my view is how many great and updated features it has. The vibration notification when a milestone is reached, the touch screen which works great in all types of weather and with gloves and the virtual racer that lets you race against a virtual opponent.

An updated model from the 410 this one gets rid of the bezel that some customers didn't like as well as upgraded the software. This has a lot of features that athletes love but is best for runners.

  • Lots of Excellent Features
  • Good Battery Life
  • Takes a while to get used to the screen

The best features found in the Garmin Forerunner 610 cannot all be highlighted, but there are some that are worth mentioning. It has a long lasting battery. The time before it needs to be recharged on both game and safe mode is quite impressive, with the safe mode lasting for up to four weeks while the training mode can last up to eight hours. Furthermore, when the battery is drained after being used in many activities it does not take a long time to charge up again.

The touch screen capability of the Garmin Forerunner 610 gives it a modern feel, and many devices are adopting it as part of their overall design. The use of the touch screen simplifies the process to ensure that the sports watch is set up well. During the initial set up procedure there is some personal information that has to be provided to help in the calculation of some of the data used in training sessions. Furthermore, the menus that form an integral part of the screen and are used to display a variety of settings can also be customized easily.

Being very user friendly is one of the strongest features of the Garmin Forerunner 610 as there are only three buttons plus the touch screen that are responsible for the major functions of the sports watch. These buttons include: start or stop, lap or reset, and even the power switch.

For many customers, the touch screen is a welcome addition to the wide range of Forerunner sports watches, but the selection of menus on the screen is a bit challenging because the screen is quite small. However, with regular use of the sports watch the user becomes more familiar with the controls and their operation is much easier and even more convenient.

Overall, it is a great workout companion that is a ‘must have’ for most athletes and people who would like to have an enhanced experience while training or keeping fit.
